Music is a gift to be cultivated and enjoyed; it speaks directly to the heart, and is one of the purest forms of expression in which we can engage. Because I believe that everyone can benefit from experiencing music, I do my best to teach in a manner that is both engaging and encouraging—regardless of the past experience and knowledge level of the student. I create individual lesson plans for each student, as every person possesses different strengths, preferences, and goals. My purpose is not to promote musicians that “do” music, but to cultivate God-given talent, foster a love and appreciation of music, and encourage students as they work toward the joy that can be experienced through playing and listening to music.
My lesson plans are tailored specifically to each student, but all include classical training, popular repertoire (such as jazz, contemporary, sacred, and other styles), technical exercises, theory, and composition/improvisation.
